Community activist, historian, preservationist and freelance writer Herb Sosa, explores the contributions of the LGBT community in the Historic Preservation movement – locally and globally.
Herb Sosa served for more than a decade as the Chair of the City of Miami Beach Historic Preservation Board. As the past president of Dade Heritage Trust (Miami-Dade’s leading Historic Preservation organization), he was involved in the restoration and re-lighting of the 1825 Cape Florida lighthouse in Key Biscayne in 1996 - which you can see on Sunday, May 28th as part of World OutGames Icons of the Bay boat-tour. Sosa has also served as Executive Director of the Miami Design Preservation League, Art Deco Weekend Festival and as advisor to the World Congress on Art Deco. A founding member, and currently President of Unity Coalition |Coalición Unida, an organization in South Florida that offers Leadership, Protection & Promotion of Latino|Hispanic LGBTQ rights; he is also Publisher | Editor-In-chief of AMBIENTE Magazine; a publication offered in English, Spanish & Portuguese, produced bi-monthly, offered free of charge, and distributed digitally around the globe to thousands of readers.
